Every Cristamor glass passes through four distinct stages before it reaches your table. Here’s what happens behind the closed doors of our workshop.
Step 1: Design Drafting
Before a single cut is made, the pattern must be drawn. Our designers map out every facet on paper, calculating how light will travel through each angle. A single whiskey glass may have 24 individually planned cuts, each one serving both an aesthetic and optical purpose.
This stage is where art meets geometry. The pattern must be symmetrical, but not mechanical. It must follow the natural curves of the glass while creating moments of surprise—places where light bends unexpectedly.
Step 2: Initial Cutting
Using diamond-impregnated wheels spinning at controlled speeds, our artisans carve the primary facets into the crystal surface. This is the most physically demanding step. One wrong angle, one moment of excess pressure, and the piece is lost.
Step 3: Fine Adjustment
Each cut is then refined by hand with precision tools. The artisan adjusts the depth, sharpens the edges, and ensures that every intersection is clean. This is where the glass begins to come alive—light starts to play across the surface in ways that the original design only hinted at.
Step 4: Final Polishing
The surface is polished through progressively finer abrasives until it achieves optical clarity. At this point, light passes through the crystal without distortion. The glass is inspected against a light source, turned slowly, and approved only when every facet meets our standard.
From raw block to finished glass, the process takes several days per piece. That’s the time we invest in every Cristamor creation.
