When Rome wanted to make something permanent, it didn’t paint — it glued. Mosaics outlasted the empire that made them: tiny stone and glass tiles, set one at a time, until ten thousand fragments resolved into gods, gladiators, and the family dog. Byzantium took the art to its ceiling; Ravenna’s churches still glow with gold-ground mosaics fifteen centuries later. The Mosaic cut translates that patience into crystal — a field of amethyst tiles, each facet a separate piece, resolving into one coherent surface only when you step back.
