Description

The Pattern’s Story

A thousand years ago, the Kyoto court dressed in layers — sometimes twelve of them — and each combination of colors had a name, drawn from poetry and the seasons. *Seika kasane* is the twilight sequence: the blue of dusk dissolving into the first rose of evening, worn as a gradient across silk sleeves. Courtiers spent lifetimes perfecting this language of layered color; it was considered as precise as calligraphy. This glass carries the same idea in crystal — layered cuts building from cool blue into warmth, light passing through tier after tier the way evening passes through sky. The old court never let a single color stand alone. Neither do we.

Craft & Material

Japanese-inspired layered cutting, executed in rich tiers of facets in our partner workshops. Starburst geometry and floral symmetry in dialogue. Presented in a wooden box.

A Gift That Means Something

For the aesthete — the person who notices the sky at 6:47 pm. Anniversaries, milestones, or the treat-yourself moment.

FAQ

Where is it made?
Cut in partner workshops in China; the layered-color concept comes from Japan’s Heian court. We honor the tradition and tell our story honestly.

What does “Seika Kasane” mean?
Roughly “twilight layering” — a named color sequence from Kyoto’s classical court dress.

01

Design Drafting

Each pattern is drawn by hand, mapping how light will travel through every facet.

02

Initial Cutting

Diamond wheels carve the primary facets. One wrong angle and the piece is lost.

03

Fine Adjustment

Each facet is refined by hand. Depth, edge, angle - adjusted until geometry becomes art.

04

Final Polishing

Progressive abrasives bring out optical clarity. Light passes through without distortion.

Why Optical-Grade Crystal?

Our crystal isn't just glass. It's K9 optical crystal — selected for its exceptional clarity, brilliance, and precision.

When we set out to create a better whiskey glass, we looked beyond tradition and focused on one thing: light. We wanted a crystal that could reveal the natural color and character of your whiskey through every precisely cut facet.

The result is crystal chosen for clarity and brilliance, shaped by hand and polished by skilled craftsmen. Its optical properties allow light to travel through the glass beautifully, while its hardness supports the crisp, precise cuts that define every Cristamor design.

Crystal for clarity. Crafted by hand. Designed to make the light shine.

More than a glass — crafted to make the moment shine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is "optical-grade crystal"?
Optical-grade crystal is a high-clarity, lead-free glass. Ours is K9 optical crystal - the same grade used in premium lenses and prisms, formulated for maximum light transmission and refraction. That's why our glasses catch light so beautifully.
Q2: Is each glass really hand-cut?
Yes. Every facet is cut by hand using diamond-impregnated wheels. No two glasses are perfectly identical - slight variations are part of the craft and proof of authenticity.
Q3: How does the free engraving work?
Select "Add Personalization," enter your text, and we'll engrave it before shipping. Engraving takes 2-3 business days. There's no extra charge - personalization is included with every glass.
Q4: Can I put these in the dishwasher?
We recommend hand washing with mild soap and a soft cloth. The hand-cut facets can be dulled by harsh dishwasher detergents over time. Think of it like a good knife - hand care keeps the edge.
Q5: Are these safe for hot drinks?
These glasses are designed for spirits and cold beverages. Rapid temperature changes can stress the crystal, so please avoid hot liquids.
Q6: How long does shipping take?
Standard shipping: 7-15 business days. Express: 5-10business days. Personalized items add 2-3 business days for engraving. Q4 holiday cutoffs are posted on each product page.
Q7: What if my glass arrives broken?
We pack each set with triple-layer protection. If anything arrives damaged, send us a photo within 7 days and we'll send a replacement - no need to return the broken piece.
Q8: Do you offer bulk or corporate pricing?
Yes. For orders of 10+ sets, contact us at info@cristamor.com for volume pricing and custom branding options.
