The Pattern’s Story
A thousand years ago, the Kyoto court dressed in layers — sometimes twelve of them — and each combination of colors had a name, drawn from poetry and the seasons. *Seika kasane* is the twilight sequence: the blue of dusk dissolving into the first rose of evening, worn as a gradient across silk sleeves. Courtiers spent lifetimes perfecting this language of layered color; it was considered as precise as calligraphy. This glass carries the same idea in crystal — layered cuts building from cool blue into warmth, light passing through tier after tier the way evening passes through sky. The old court never let a single color stand alone. Neither do we.
Craft & Material

FAQ
Where is it made?
Cut in partner workshops in China; the layered-color concept comes from Japan’s Heian court. We honor the tradition and tell our story honestly.
What does “Seika Kasane” mean?
Roughly “twilight layering” — a named color sequence from Kyoto’s classical court dress.
Each pattern is drawn by hand, mapping how light will travel through every facet.
Diamond wheels carve the primary facets. One wrong angle and the piece is lost.
Each facet is refined by hand. Depth, edge, angle - adjusted until geometry becomes art.
Progressive abrasives bring out optical clarity. Light passes through without distortion.
Our crystal isn't just glass. It's K9 optical crystal — selected for its exceptional clarity, brilliance, and precision.
When we set out to create a better whiskey glass, we looked beyond tradition and focused on one thing: light. We wanted a crystal that could reveal the natural color and character of your whiskey through every precisely cut facet.
The result is crystal chosen for clarity and brilliance, shaped by hand and polished by skilled craftsmen. Its optical properties allow light to travel through the glass beautifully, while its hardness supports the crisp, precise cuts that define every Cristamor design.
