The Story
The sakura opens for seven days and calls it a full life. Japan built its whole aesthetic of courage around that arithmetic — mono no aware, the beauty of things that don’t last — and the blossom became the culture’s shorthand for bravery: blooming anyway, fully, on schedule, knowing. The Sakura Nami (桜波, “cherry-blossom wave”) glass sets that courage in motion: drifting petals caught mid-fall through layered crystal waves, the fleeting meeting the endless, each petal a small decision to be beautiful while it can. This is our Studio Select line — limited pieces, deepest cuts, one release at a time. When this edition is gone, it’s gone. The glass, of course, would insist on nothing less.
Craft & Material
The most intricate color-layer work in our catalog: drifting sakura petals through flowing wave crystal, deep-relief carved. Presented in the flagship wooden box. Studio Select limited release.
The Opening Ritual
Turn it slowly under a lamp. The petals drift at a different speed than the waves — that’s not a trick of the light; that’s the cutting.
FAQ
What does Studio Select mean?
Our limited line — one release at a time, deepest cuts, no restocks on the same edition. When it sells through, the next piece replaces it.
What does Sakura Nami mean?
“Cherry-blossom wave” — the meeting of the fleeting (petals) and the endless (water). The whole philosophy of the piece in two words.
Each pattern is drawn by hand, mapping how light will travel through every facet.
Diamond wheels carve the primary facets. One wrong angle and the piece is lost.
Each facet is refined by hand. Depth, edge, angle - adjusted until geometry becomes art.
Progressive abrasives bring out optical clarity. Light passes through without distortion.
Our crystal isn't just glass. It's K9 optical crystal — selected for its exceptional clarity, brilliance, and precision.
When we set out to create a better whiskey glass, we looked beyond tradition and focused on one thing: light. We wanted a crystal that could reveal the natural color and character of your whiskey through every precisely cut facet.
The result is crystal chosen for clarity and brilliance, shaped by hand and polished by skilled craftsmen. Its optical properties allow light to travel through the glass beautifully, while its hardness supports the crisp, precise cuts that define every Cristamor design.
