The Cut’s Story
Every diamond you’ve ever seen flash on a ring is doing the same polite trick — transparency, refraction, tradition. Carbonado — black diamond — never signed up for that. It’s the rarest form of diamond on earth, found almost exclusively in Brazil and Central Africa, opaque where its cousins are clear, and until recently considered only good for drill bits, because it’s the hardest thing we know of that isn’t laboratory-grown. Then designers noticed what jewelers had missed: black diamonds don’t pass light — they return it, sharp and silver, only at the facets. The Noir Diamond Starburst cuts that attitude into black crystal: a starburst of facets on absolute black, flashing only when it wants to. It’s the glass for people who never did the traditional thing and turned out more interesting for it.
Craft & Material
Hand-cut black crystal with brilliant-cut starburst faceting. Deep matte-black body; facets return light as silver flashes — the carbonado effect.
A Gift That Means Something
For the non-conformists: the artist who took the weird job, the founder who dropped out, the friend who dresses better than everyone and knows it.
FAQ
What’s a black diamond?
Carbonado — the rarest diamond form on earth, opaque and harder than clear diamond. Once sold for drill bits, now prized for its rebel shine.
How is it different from the Smoke Black Diamond glass?
The Smoke Black is dark with amber undertones for smoke-lovers; the Noir is absolute black, cut for silver facet flashes. Different diamonds, different moods.
Each pattern is drawn by hand, mapping how light will travel through every facet.
Diamond wheels carve the primary facets. One wrong angle and the piece is lost.
Each facet is refined by hand. Depth, edge, angle - adjusted until geometry becomes art.
Progressive abrasives bring out optical clarity. Light passes through without distortion.
Our crystal isn't just glass. It's K9 optical crystal — selected for its exceptional clarity, brilliance, and precision.
When we set out to create a better whiskey glass, we looked beyond tradition and focused on one thing: light. We wanted a crystal that could reveal the natural color and character of your whiskey through every precisely cut facet.
The result is crystal chosen for clarity and brilliance, shaped by hand and polished by skilled craftsmen. Its optical properties allow light to travel through the glass beautifully, while its hardness supports the crisp, precise cuts that define every Cristamor design.
